"Much detail may be added to this bare outline of the facts..."

Hmmm. I have to say this cursory treatment gives the impression that DLH was just turning the handle. It is interesting to see even back in the day large font being used to fill up the absence of any serious argument. And people paid sixpence for the dozen for this!

I think it is a very small pamphlet so the font appears larger on my image display than it is in real life maybe .. but I do remember thinking it was a bit odd having it in that format still .. and course that makes the 6p a dozen all the more unjustifiable! what would you want a dozen of them for anyway?! DLH's head popped up where-ever there was a controversy and (imo) he was on the wrong side of the argument every single time; suppose not a good thing to speculate on someone long long dead but he comes across as one of the more unsavory characters among many at that time. His sisters of course too were the course of the division at Reading c1884.

It is well worth reading WTP Wolston's paper "Hear the right" alongside this as it gives a much fuller picture of sorrowful events leading up to the 1908 Glanton division, which sadly echo on down the decades.
