The "London" brethren - otherwise known as "Taylor" Exclusive Brethren - need to go much further back in their history than the 1960s. At Barnet in June in 1929 was formally introduced among them "incarnational sonship" with changes to the hymnbook in 1932 to suit. Later in the 1940s came the doctrine and practice of addressing the Holy Spirit and another modified hymnbook.

Indeed, even Mr Darby was aware towards the end of his life on earth that things were going wrong among "brethren" and hence a number of divisions in the quick succession in the 1880s, not to mention other divisions and subdivisions since. There have been moves for restoration of fellowship among several companies of "brethren" in the century past, some having occurred, but at least one having divided again. However, we must remember that we have no corporate existence apart from the whole body of Christ on earth.

As much as I value and enjoy the writings of "brethren" and have been helped by them, we need to search the Scriptures and seek guidance of the Lord. See Ezra 8 verse 21.

Brethren! It is not time for confession to God regarding our sins and our failure in not endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Eph. 4.3) ? We have not earnestly contended for the faith which was once delivered to the saints (Jude 3). We need to take up such confessions as those found in Ezra 9, Nehemiah 9, and Daniel 9.

Let us pray that the Lord might give us a little reviving (Ezra 9 verse 8).
