The author, being only a year old at the time her father perished in the wreck of the "Hungarian", probably writes from what she was told. Historical records indicate that 205 souls perished in that wreck and that there was no lighthouse on Cape Sable at the time. In fact, it was because of the wreck of the "Hungarian" that a lighthouse was subsequently built.
