Shortly before this pamphlet was written, the assembly at Bicester Oxon, underwent an acrimonious split. One part led by the author of this pamphlet, withdrew themselves from the fellowship and started up a rival "assembly" which did not garner much support from visiting speakers/preachers, or from other assemblies. After approximately 10 years, a reconciliation process concluded by the reuniting of the seceder "assembly" into the fellowship of the original assembly. A further small secession of individuals approximately a year ago took place which included a prominent participant in the first split, though this time those leaving were received into an assembly in an adjacent county. The pamphlet above has been felt by many to be paradoxical, being put together by an author violating the principles of assembly harmony to which lip-service is therein paid.
