In Chief Men on John Morley, we have "These remarkable years, '59 to '63, were seasons of gathering in of many men to be afterwards used mightily in the Lord's service, including R . J . Mahony of Dromore Castle, W. T. Crosbie of Tralee, F. C. Bland of Derryquin, Geo. F. Trench, Alfred Trench, Townsend Trench, and T Shuldham Henry, several of whom were afterwards associated with Mr. Morley in work in London."
Who were Alfred Trench and Townsend Trench? Was Alfred Trench, J.A.T? Alfred Trench was also involved in the Reading Division, see "Where is Consistency and Truthfulness?". Townsend Trench is referenced in "A Caution to the Readers of 'A Caution against the Darbyites.'"

As to the Irish Revival and J. A. Trench look at the magazine "Footsteps of Truth" 15 (1897) on page 165. (Years ago I gor this volume from you on loan. Thank you!) Unfortunately the pictures there are very raw. I would like to have better photos of Grimston, Hunt, Turpin and others.
I have a copy of a photo of J. A. Trench + family but JAT was quite old, then.

The bio information I have added on John Townsend Trench doesn't make me 100pc convinced he is the same individual as Townsend Trench, but who else could it be?! ** updated; actually if you look at the letters, easily seen in this document http://www.presenttruthpublishers.com/pdf/Darby_Precious_Truths_v3.pdf , Townsend Trench is J. Townsend Trench, so seems to be the right person.

Another note; the tree above is obviously far from complete; im only showing those we are interested in and their connections. E.g. Frederick Trench had 20 children, and Thomas Trench 15.

Also should be able to link this tree to Sir Robert Anderson, so will try to do that too.

Martin, as to the volume of Footsteps of Truth; I think possibly you borrowed this from someone else, as I (sadly) have almost all of them bar that one, and various catalouges I have kept suggest I neither had it before or after I lent them to you those years ago! Anyway I have added the very interesting colour version of the picture you sent me back then, which shows many of the Trench family who were heavily involved in the revival work. T.W. Trench also went to Sedan with C.J. Davis. I am unsure who Robert Trench in the photo is, but most the rest are now identified!

So I was told yesterday JAT is the Alfred Trench involved in the Reading controversey. JAT and his brother, JCT were both leaders in the Glanton section. They owned the meeting room in Sligo where James Taylor Sr grew up, and after his denial of the Eternal Sonship in 1929, JCT took the room back on the basis that the lease stipulated it was to be used by Christians who held to the Nicene Creed!

Tom... this is a wonderful example of genealogical clarity! One little extra detail may be of interest. You mention that Frederick Trench (1724-97) had 20 children. His fourth son was William Trench (1769-1849) one of whose sons was Rev. Frederick FitzWilliam Trench (1799-1869). F.FitzW.T (who must not be confused with his cousin Frederick FitzJohn Trench) was the Rector of Cloughjordan, Tipperary, where JND engaged in mission work, when he was still an active minister in the Church of Ireland. In 1830 F.FitzW.T took JND to Cambridge to meet Charles Simeon who had been the instrument of Trench's conversion.
