I found out about this man as I was studying the Mildmay Mission Hospital in Bethnal Green, East London. He was one of the donors who helped make the hospital a reality. The Mildmay Mission Hospital was a great hospital that strove hard for the truth and good news of Jesus. This was their motto that they rolled with: “To heal the sick and to diffuse simple Gospel truth with the object of conversion and edification of souls”

Thanks Jeshua; I've been quite interested in what one might call the 'Gospel and Humanitarian' work Christians did in London in the Victorian era, and collected quite a few books on it. Would be interested to know as well, the source you have found for E.D's. involvement in this venture?
