I took advantage of a hot spring day last week to make the journey down to West Norwood Cemetery for the first time.  Here among the many interned were three I had a particular interest to see; Napoleon Noel, the brethren historian, James Moffat, the missionary to Africa and father-in-law of David Livingstone, and one of the cemetery's most famous 'residents', the great Baptist preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon.

West Norwood is one of the so-called magnificent seven cemeteries which were built in the mid-ninteenth century. The architecture is not quite so beautiful as at Highgate or Bromton, but notably the Greek section is very impressive and well worth seeing.
