Website's 5th Birthday!!
Give or take a few days, the website is celebrating it's 5th Birthday! I had the idea to do a historical archive back in 2008 and first registered the domain then, but it was only summer of 2011 that I began to actually do some work on it. I can't remember exactly when it went live, but the "Welcome to my Website" post is dated near the beginning of January 2012. I can't believe how five years have flown by so quickly but that is how life goes. As you can see I've spent quite a bit of time on this thing, but still I imagine not achieved as much as I might have hoped in such a long period. Regular visitors will know there have been long periods of not much activity (and probably still will be as in summer I don't tend to have so much time for this), but stil the last year has made quite a lot of progress and hopefully that momentum will continue. Visitor numbers hvae been increasing steadily and we now regularly get between 50-100 unique visits per day. I just checked and in the five years, 580 have registered for the membership section, so there is clearly still a lot of interest out there! Going forward I recently got a new top down scanner from a Kickstarter type project which makes scanning a lot easier, so I'm hoping to continue to digitalise a lot of pamphlets I have, and some books too, with the aim of reducing my paper collection size slightly! Also I've been keen on trying to make the website as open to other contributions as possible, and now lots of information can be added by users .. of course getting people to actually use this is a harder matter, but it woudl be great if it could become a go-to content repository for Brethren history, rather than Wikipedia entries etc. All suggestions for this or anything else are appreciated!
Best wishes to all,
Tom
