Mr Fleming is probably a son of Inglis Fleming?

Does anyone know when this photo was taken?

And/ or, might you know when A. E. Booth's Chart from Eternity to Eternity might have first been published? I recently acquired a print of a 7th edition from my mother, and I'm trying to figure out who some of Booth's contemporaries were, with whom he was studying and friends.

Hi Amanda,
Good question - I haven't been able to do this yet, but I think quite an accurate estimate of the date might be made from the age of those present. And from the photographers inscription it was probably at a meeting around that area in PA. I have quite a lot of letters from around that time in boxes waiting to be scanned so might find a reference to whatever meeting it was at some point.
There should be quite a bit of biographical info available on Booth I imagine as he was prominent in the meetings.

Some notes on this I was sent;
The owner of Claar Studios that produced the picture was owned by a brother in the meetings, Jesse Claar. His son Joe is still alive and in his 90s (I have met him a few times actually.)
"That picture may have been taken in Baltimore as some of the people were local there."
"B.C. Greenman, [in this picture] he is much younger than in a 1925 (approximately) photo I have."
The photo must be pre 1916 as that was when Paul Loizeaux died.
Somebody estimated 1900 or earlier.

Any idea what number 3’s first name is and descendants ... Gorgas & son ?

Yes would be good to know who the Gorgases are on there .. I imagine R.K. Gorgas must be related as he is from the same area, and BTP publish one of his pamphlets.

A. E. Booth's chart went through several editions over five decades. I once saw a tattered 1905 edition he used which is conveys the basic points with only simple graphics. I use prints of the 1957 Loizeaux edition when I teach dispensational truth. That one was actually published after Mr. Booth's decease.

Mr. Joe Claar was principle to the publication of the two "The Serious Christian" series in the 1980's. I was told the series was stopped due to Joe's declining health.

Given that Inglis Fleming was born in 1859, it could be him in the photo, not a son?

The father of Richard Knapp Gorgas (the singing pilgrim) was John Weaver Gorgas Sr (1903-1994). He is likely the boy sitting on his father's lap (#3) who later married Margaret May Knapp, daughter of Christopher Knapp. It looks like #3 is Edward Gorgas (born about 1860) the father of John W Gorgas & grandfather of Richard K Gorgas. Edward Gorgas was married to Anna Weaver.

I was somewhat shocked to see this picture, which includes my great-grandfather Edward Gorgas and one of his sons. Edward died young, leaving (to the best of my knowledge) three sons; Howard, Edward (Reds) and my grandfather, John Weaver Gorgas, who was eight years old at the time of his father's death. He had several daughters. Howard, the eldest, cared for his family until all the children were grown, and then went off to find the youth he'd missed caring for his siblings. It was a life long pursuit, and just before he died at the age of 89, he confessed his faith in the Lord, telling a preacher who visited his hospital room, "I'm trusting in the blood of the Lamb." Reds lived a godless life of a scoffer, spending at lot of time out on the ocean, but is reported to have confessed faith in Christ in the last few weeks of his life. My grandfather, John, got serious about his relationship with the Lord when he was in his forties, and for the rest of his live lived as a devoted believer. The second half of his life was spent among the TW Brethren, where he was highly regarded as a teacher and shepherd. He died at shortly before his 91st birthday. His sons were Richard (Singing Pilgrim), John W. jr (Jack), Jim, and David. Richard and Jack have gone on to glory, but Jim and Dave remain faithful Christians in their old age. Some of Edward Gorgas' great- great-great grandchildren remain in the TW Brethren meetings today, although many of his descendants are not no long affiliated with Brethren.

In the photograph of the Grant brethren, the brother, marked 24, may be Mr J.H. Fleming of Minneapolis, a signatory to a letter of 1912. It is not Mr Inglis Fleming, who was with Glanton brethren until 1926 and with Grant brethren in North America from that time until the division in 1932. (There is a photograph of Mr I. However, pictured is a brother Stratton, marked 8, perhaps father of Dr Robert S. Stratton, 1890 - 1975, who laboured in the Gospel in the Bahamas and was a physician in Marsh Harbour, Abaco. One of his granddaughters, a fine Christian, was drowned when the family home was demolished in 2019 by Hurricane Dorian when it made landfall on Abaco.
