The "Mr D." who visited her, I assume is Mr Darby. Her sister, Mrs G, is of course Mrs Guinness. Her other sisters are also mentioned.

The phrase "a life more than usually eventful from her very childhood" refers to this; "When she was very young her mother died of tuberculosis and her father committed suicide, so she was raised by the family solicitor, Arthur West, who was a Quaker. They lived in Exmouth, and Devon, and eventually Bath .. ". West also later committed suicide.
