Trials
by G.J. Stewart
All trials, by the way, are after all but opportunities for our God to show Himself. Nothing of the wilderness is unknown or unforeseen, and is but intended to cast us the more upon His own unbounded resources; the troubles might well overwhelm us, and will unless they drive us to Him, and then we get the sweet out of them; and we surely want to know more what it is to do with Himself personally in everything. Every burden is lightened in His presence, and weakness strengthened; sorrows are hushed with His love, and all wrongs righted. So may we be kept until His own coming more than realizes all our expectations.
