I have a vague recollection of speaking with George Gibb in California more than 20 years ago. (His wife Caroline wrote a book published by Believer's Bookshelf in the 1980s called "More than Enough".) He told me that he had copies of letters by his grandfather (or perhaps great grandfather) JB Jackson from when he served as a young man in the American civil war. I'm sure I made notes after speaking with George but I can't find them anywhere. Perhaps one of our American brethren could add to the fascinating biographical information of JBJ.
