John William Peters seceded from the Church of England, giving up his position in Quennington in the early 1830s. His first wife died in 1846. In 1852 he married Mary Bowley whose father came from a Quaker family but appears to have been associated with the Brethren from the 1840s when some of Mary's hymns were included in Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs (probably edited by J.G. Deck, 1842). The wedding was performed by George Müller. Further details of the family are in 'John William Peters (1791—1861): Some Clarifications,' Brethren Historical Review, 13 (2017) 59-74.
