Born in Hackney, London, England the eldest of five children to Harland Hardwick (1870, Stepney, London - 1954, Midhurst, Sussex) and his wife Hannah Philips (1866, Islington, London - 1936, Islington, London). The family lived in Canada for a few years (two of Percy's siblings were born there) but they returned to England by 1902.
Percy married, firstly, Isabel Lucille Powell (1897, Jamaica - 1925, Croydon, Surrey) in 1923 and, secondly, Ruth Cox (1905, Hendon, Middlesex -1989, Lewisham, Kent) in 1926
He was a school-master by profession. He died in Adelaide, Australia while on a visit there.
