Birth and death record give his middle name as Edwin, but probate and some others say Edwy (as per Wikipedia).

I guess that settles the name issue too.

WEV was the father of my aunt. I only recall hearing Edwy, but family usage may not be legally correct.  Frances (on a birth certificate) has often become Fanny in family usage and thence incorporated onto a gravestone.    Timothy

Hi,
I will be publishing a book of impactful quotes I've collected throughout my life and wish to include 1 of William Vine's.
Do you know if I would need permission and who to contact for this?
Thanks so much!

Does anyone know any more about Open Brethren Evangelist George Vine. He was the uncle of W. E. Vine of Bath. He passed away on 30th December 1888 at Bournemouth.

W E Vine (1873-1949) was the eldest child of Edwin H Vine, (schoolmaster, born Fontmell Magna, Dorset 1844 - widdower in 1891) and his wife, Martha. Edwin H Vine and his older brother George (born Blandford, 1838) were the 2nd and 3rd sons of Thomas Vine (bn 1809) and Maria (bn 1808). George and his father Thomas were drapers. Information found in Census returns 1841-1911. Fontmell Magna is a few miles north of Blandford Forum.
